The Hamara Internet team headed to IBM Karachi alongside Women Action Forum’s Nabiha Meher Shaikh and Fareiha Aziz, the co-director of Bolo Bhi on the 19th of April. Our team initiated dialogue about what it means to be a woman or minority in the digital space in Pakistan, and how closely interlinked are values of honors and patriarchy to a woman’s existence. The workshop then progressed onto talk about the various tools that are available online to ensure one’s safety whens simply trying to participate onlne. Nabiha and Fareiha spoke to the young women about their cyber-harassment experiences within Digital spheres, and how they could understand this issue better academically, this was done by sharing concepts of feminist theory with the women and to understand what it meant to them.
